I've had quite a few gripes and disagreements with the people who took over this board after Ras Forever (rest in uhuru) passed on. But I've never felt that they were "rejecting" me or anyone else just cos we were lighter skinned or mixed race or anything like that. And I think if you check out the works they are involved in like the Nubian School etc, those works speak for themselves and there's no way you could call them all childish or ineffective or whatever.
"Unity" is pointless if you're not really united. Before true unity could be achieved the differences that exist (whether or not these differences were created by the system) need to be examined and overcome.
Having lived in both places, I would generally say that "hue-ism" is more prevalent in the caribbean than amerikkka. But there's no way you could tell me it doesn't exist in amerikkka. Just as an example close to home for me, my ex-girl's mum (a lighter-skinned Black person) was virtually ostracized from her family for marrying her dad (a Black-skinned man) and she (my ex), one of the most gorgeous human beings ever born on earth, was made to feel "ugly" as a child cos she was "too Black". You can't deny that that ish goes on.
Acknowleding that differences exist is not the same as creating and exacerbating differences, it is a crucial first step towards overcoming differences.
