Well far from wildly claiming this as a reason why black people cannot liberate themselves I suspect many here are questioning your own liberation and understanding of the issues that we are dealing with here.
You have said in one fell swoop that yes, light-skinned privilege does exist, you have also said that it should not be tolerated. Then you still jump to conclude that ones who do feel the brunt of the system should not make a deliberate attempt to articulate the fact that if the system of racist oppression hits hardest at the blacker ones, and if it is the blacker ones that are more sensitive to our original, indigenous stock that it is this perspective that is ideal to champion us forward as a people.
It is always soooo easy for people to accuse black people of being divisive when they speak of colourism like if the problem is theirs, as if they are the perpetrators or the inventors. When black people are involved, the responsibility for change is always placed on the victims isn't it? That is like a thief constantly breaking into my house and stealing my things, and me telling him come on, dear, take, and take, because you are people too. Oh please!
You are coming over like a whining white (I am not saying that I know for sure whether you are white or not) that feels that your desire for control is being threatened by informed blacks. It is indeed the hallmark of privilege to always expect that someone else will pay and be accountable, that the problem is always the victims.
