I would say that men recorded their individual 'take' on Jah or Jah inspirated them in a time where text was in use so they wrote down some main ideas,In case future generations did forget.Yes
These original writings have been distorted.
It is said in the bible that the deeper understandings of Jah cannot be written down.
There are many stories in just about every indigenous culture with the themes of greed,betrayal,murder,avarice,trickery and so on,so it is probably fair to say that no culture was, person to person, perfect.Some were more in touch with the land and the cycles of the earth though,it seems,which of course does NOT discount the reality that some were highly aware of SELF and the depth of personal awareness.
