Maybe the source of ALL creation is the heart. The heart or essence of man. Words seem to be translated by the mind, or at least 'configured' by the mind and downloaded in a way that might enhance or over-ride the existing program or beleif structure,or may perpetuate the program allready existing.
Obviously not everyone was privy to sit at the feet of master wise men and learn universal truths. Not everyone would be able to grasp some of these truths so maybe by summerising them into text people were able to have a foundation for realising higher truths.People might not have to be doing 'bad' to desire to be 'better'.Improvement could just be a basic desire of natural growth and evolution.
If you dont KNOW GOD(which I beleive is in/is the heart of all flesh)then to get something in your mind might help you to move into the HEART for that conscious revelation to expand into what you- KNOW.
It seems fair to say though, that when one KNOWS GOD deeply enough, they can see God in many things.
In ALL things.God/self/truth seems to be able to be found in the words written in these posts, and I see no better or worse words in spiritual text than the words on the screen by others posting. Its just a matter of preference,of what works,of what intuitively feels right.Even if what one says 'feels intuitively right' is just their excuse for denial.
You could a run to the rocks, but the rocks will be melted, you could a run to the sea but the sea will boiling. One cannot escape growth it seems.
Its just the institutionalising of the words or author into a Religion which is the problem. The book of so and so as being the ultimate truth and anyone who sees different is to be chastised, outcasted, treated as 'lesser'which seems to create some of the problems.
