You asked : 'Brother Eja, do you relate more to the Garveyites or do you relate more to Rastafari?'
I answer by asking : What is Rastafari? Was it not Garveyite at it's conception and was Marcus Garvey himself not a continuation of an older spirit of resistance and rebirth?
Franksta answered these two questions better than I can.
Is the name by which we are described as important as the goal we serve? I think not. Names, like any other word can take on different meanings in time. There are forces that work on a larger time-scale than the lifetimes of any one of us and these will, when in opposition to an intention, twist the outer form of the intention.
What cannot be affected is the essence but, unfortunately, it has been proven repeatedely that all you need to do is change the package and people will forget what is inside; what is meant to be hidden.
Haile Selassie never claimed to be 'God', yet some persist in proclaiming him as such. Why? What is THIER intention?
Wisdom and Strength.
