Ras Makonnen who was born on the 8th of May in 1852, was a very busy and active person in the Country of Ethiopia. He was the governmental administrator for Emporer Menelik 11, who also had the title of The Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Elect of God, King of Kings of Ethiopia. As a matter of truth, the letter head in the palace bears the above mentioned title, and was there in the palace throughout the times, of all the Emporers of Ethiopia. Ras Makonnen was also Head of the Miltary and was also in charge of Foriegn affairs. He also visited Europe twice, and observe their development over there, and was working on duplicating those things which he liked over there, in Ethiopia. He was also sent to England, to represent Ethiopia, at the coronation of King Edward V11, in the year 1902. Ras Makonnen was the one who built the first hospital in the city of Harar, but a year after his death, the French Government was able to buy the hospital from Menelik for 50.000 francs, on the 5th of August 1907.
It has also been recorded that Ras Makonnen was very active in trying to ease the tax burden of the poorer masses of his people, and was working hard to try to lift the living standarsd of his people. After consulting with Emporer Menelik by letters and telephone, there were so many times, when Ras Makonnen had to travel from Ethiopia to Addis Ababa, to have personal consultations with Menelik, and these journeys would take about a month, since the trian lines were not yet established.
There were times when Ras Makonnoen had to be sent to quell rebellions and to restore peace and unity to various provinces. I do think that Ras Tafari Makonnen was fortunate to have gained many oceans of experience, from his father Ras Makonnen, as well as the Elders and nobles in who's hands, Ras Makonnen delivered him, when he was just under 14 years of age.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination to African people everywhere
ONE BLACK HEART ONE BLACK LOVE
