Tafari Makonnen was just under two years old, when his mother Wayzaro Yashimabet, who was just bearly 30 years of age died, on the 14th of March 1894. I had read an article some where, that child bearing was a very difficult task for her. It has been said that she had been pregnant nine times, and have given birth to eight babies, but they all died in their infant stages of life, except for Tafari Makonnen who was able to survive. It has been said that Tafari Makonnen was taken away from her in his infant stage, and was given to a nurse to be cared for, and he survived to become a great African Liberator.
After Tafari's birth and sometime was passed, it is said that she had her tenth pregnancy, and in the process of her child bearing, there was some complications, which resulted in her daeth. So out of ten pregnancies, Tafari Makonnen is the only one which survived. So Tafari Makonnen,s mother, died on the 14 of March, 1894 when he was just under two years of age, and his father died on the 21st of March 1906 when he was just about 14 years of age. He was actually still a child when those double stragedy took place in his life, losing his mother and father at such an early age, but I am sure that he was taken care of other wise, by those elders who his father asked to take care of him, for in those days, there was so much fighting for power, which was going on, so his father did the right thing, and Tafari maintained a good attitude and was very respectful to his elders. He was blessed by this great Universe.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination to African people everywhere.
