Why the need to deliberately destroy one small part of it apart from what is required for life and shelter and regeneration. It should be so simple and in earlier times was.

One of my nieces as a young child saw a massive round cut out of an old tree displayed in a museum and she cried out in horror and became hysterical not understanding through her childish eyes why the tree had been chopped down and then displayed.
