Re: Zimbabwe calls for return of white farmers

Here we go again. As usual you did not respond to the points made.

I said: "On the other thread you mentioned you objected to someone calling you a mulatto (not a nice word)." In other words, I said mulatto was not a nice word, so the bulk of your response was unnecessary and kind of defensive too. If you do not understand what is stated in my posts, you can ask for it to be rephrased and I will try to rephrase it. You seem very uncomfortable being mixed.

The issue is not about what someone called you, the point is you felt by calling someone a peasant you were being offensive in retaliation to an offence on you. The point I am making is: a peasant is more in keeping with the ways of a Rasta and as such cannot be demeaning. So calling someone a peasant is more of a compliment. The original meaning of peasant is: farmer, agriculturalist; rustic, person who lives in a rural area.

Etymology: Middle English paissaunt, from Middle French paisant, from Old French, from païs country, from Late Latin pagensis inhabitant of a district, from Latin pagus district. A member of a European class of persons tilling the soil as small landowners or as laborers; also, a member of a similar class elsewhere.

Equating peasant with ignorance was a later addition to the meaning of the word and if the word is used to mean ignorant, that really reflects the ignorance of the speaker or writer.

'Elder' may have a different meaning to your clan; but apart from all the clan details, generally an elder is someone who has experienced much in life and is usually older than most. There is a relationship between old people and elders, although all are not wise. Even if you belong to a clan that defines elder differently in terms of family lines, you are quite aware of the general use and meaning of the term elder. You are also aware that African societies held old people in high regard and they were considered the wise ones to guide societies. It is share ignorance to generalize about old people in a demeaning manner as you did, when the best of our humanity respected and relied on our old people for guidance. It is only under modern European domination; elders/old people are being disrespected and cast away, in some home or the streets in some cases, instead of being the respected wise ones of families.

You cannot be ignorant of this while claiming to be a Rasta where this is well understood.

You said: "Let's sort out the mulatto issue first before I elaborate on this."

As far as I am concerned, we do not have anything to sort out. I am quite clear in my responses to you. I am clear on the reason for the positions I take. I feel that you do not understand many of the issues placed on this board, and have tried to get by based on some idea of your superiority that comes up from time to time.

Apart from that you can continue with your agenda and I will refute what I wish when I wish.

PS:
If your response does not address what I placed here on point, I will leave you with the last word.
