American commercial farmers don't grow any food. They sit back and crack the whip on the Mexicans, Guatemalans, Salvadorans etc. who actually grow the food, working 12+ hour days for less than peanut pay, getting exposed to toxic pesticides, in some cases (I know of at least one example of this) being forcibly confined to the farm, living in barracks with shotgun-toting guards outside.
