My point is simple,
Respect for property rights, rule of law and democratic elections is the only way forward.
One only needs to look around the world to see that I am right. For example one nation divided by historic events like North and South Korea.
South Korea enjoys one of the higher standards of living in the world, its democratic, respects the rule of law and also respects property rights. North Korea is the very opposite, It has a dictator, they steal what they want, dictatate how the economy should be run and guess what, they have just about the lowest standard of living anywhere on this planet.
They are the same peaople genetically speaking, talk the same language and have the same culture, no amount of aid to North Korea will make any difference until they move forward to a proven system of progress, hence no amount of aid to Africa will work either.
Instead of claiming credit for what dead people did many centuries ago in Africa it would make more sense to promote what works today.
Africa has a wealth of very smart innovative people, free the people and watch Africa explode with progress just as happened to China when they embraced property rights and the rule of law just two decades ago.
By the way, simply chosing to ignore historic injustices does not make the injustice go away.
The San and Koi did in some cases intermarry with the Southward migrating bantu people, that does not excuse the fact that the bantus used their military might to simply take the land and expel the former inhabitants.
Most African Americans have white genes and many have intermarried with white people, does that somehow excuse slavery? I think not.
National geographic is currently conducting a massive genetic study to track the movements of people as they wandered around the world, I suspect they will find that we are all one big human family that has intermingled from time begining.
Its just a pity that some people today still cling to a narrow reality and try to highlight small genetic and cultural differences amongst the human race to pigeonhole people and attempt to drive wedges amongst people to advance their own narrow minded sense of reality.
When it comes right down to it, we are all human and celebrating our rich diversity and enjoying others differences should be the reality which we all subscribe to,
Allan.
