Greetings.
When it seems that broad generalization are made about “whites, ” one of the reasons why many of us take offense and defend ourselves(not your true selves, but our identity as whites) is largely an attribute of our conditioning. With overstanding of the social underpinnings, such retorts become unnecessary. What is at the base of the issue is that because the system was built on a racial caste system and has forwarded from that, ones with white skin are automatically granted privilege in the system presently. It operates in all spheres of our society and it takes humility to start recognizing it. We do expect to be in a certain position of authority in many situations and when ones want to close the doors on us, we tend to take it personally, generally not taking into consideration how many doors are open to us that are closed to others.
Selassielive said: “ . . . black people have to be able to deal with each other and work to make a better place for Afrikan people at home and abroad BEFORE InI can even begin to embrace other cultures and livities.”
This is a KEY point. I think as whites in a black movement we should respect that – and realize that when doors ARE closed to us in certain situations, that this is the reason and not take it personally.
Keep doing the works.
