Starshyne, it’s deep what you and three_sixty brought up! Although I think you didn't produce a list of things you 'white' person do personally to make sure other white people do not practice the actions of White Supremacy (racism), your posts gave logical answers to my questions. I agree reparations are a normal solution. And you make valid points when you and three_sixty said:

whites in a black movement I think should be trying to work towards and defending the goals of Africa for the Africans at home and abroad. that is the heartbeat of Rastafari IMO. three_sixty –

one way to work is to get out of the way sometimes. we are not in the position to be leaders of a movement for African people. there are many resources we have available to us in our communities that can be brought together that can go towards efforts directed by those African people working towards goals of liberation and self-determination. it is not about taking leadership in a Black movement, but maybe more so of taking the initiative when overstanding the scheme of things to rally resources in our own communities to be used at the behest of African leadership and goals. it can mean being an impetus in our own communities in the realms of raising awareness, funds, etc.for such causes. it can mean education of others when the time presents itself. it means checking those issues of white privilege within ourselves - and using our position in the system to access things. many doors are open to us that if were taken stock of could be of great benefit. three_sixty –

As I stumble, it is good for me to remember to humble. To be willing and open to correction. To see how the language we choose and use can contradict the very things we claim to stand for. It is obvious to me reading all these posts by white people how very far we are and how we all still fall into this white mindset …but I firmly know all of this is part of the process for us to work at in doing our part in repairing this breach against humanity. This work does start and is continual in each of us.
Do you think Africans are calling us to defend them? They don’t need our defense. They need us to back off with our ignorant arrogance. For us whites to think that Africans need our defense is contradictory to us “defending the goals of Africa for the African.”…Self-determination. And if we took that statement literally….it would read the same way…How do we defend the goals of Africa for the African?
The goals we should be defending are the cornerstones of the Rastafari Movement …Truth, Rights, and Justice….how do we do this? It is logical if we consider the context of ourselves in the present day reality of the world.
How come we whites have a hard time with taking collective responsibility? How are we going to break down white supremacy? We have reaped from the oppression of Africans. What are we going to do to correct that? If we say we are about justice…how do we meet it? We whites have obviously not gotten ourselves together. We carry on with our superiority complexes and obliviousness. To really be working toward the goals of the Rastafari Movement, we would pick up one of the calls at the foundation of this Movement, Reparations….not just donations contributions or raising funds…but first of all realizing in ourselves the white mentality of arrogance and ignorance we are reared in…a sure sign of this mentality is when we deny that we are unrightfully privileged and receive unearned benefits. Another sign is when we who do see this but don’t practically take up the responsibility. If we acted as strongly as we fervently claim to be, about Truth and Right, maybe we would start building some morality and character….becoming implements of the creator instead of complicit tools of destruction. starshyne –

Your knowledge is vital inside the white "Peace," or " Love and Flower Power" movements and must never be taken away! Indeed it is a shame many white 'Rastas' don’t have a clue what the Rastafari mouvement is all about. They don’t see the practical exercise to train themselves to see the big picture and observe the dynamics in macro and take notes of what is going on. If we don’t sit and learn from what is happening and become activists running into the white community, how else can we replace the system of White Supremacy (racism) with a system of Justice?
