So I take it you are of the opinion that the progenitor of our Neanderthal cousins took the same route as modern humans.
Humans carry two types of body lice one is a recent species (40k+/-) the other is much older (closer to 300k) according to scientist it could only have happened if hominids who left Africa before +/-300k came in close contact (i.e. were naked together) with another hominid leaving Africa between 60k-40k years ago.
