Greetings Rasi
Do you sight how corporate america is taking away business from the "little man"? When many do try to have their own interprise, corporate america comes in with their big dollars, propaganda/advertisments, and low cost products to wipe out the interprise of the little man.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
yes i sight that, but does that mean that the "little-man" cease operations and give up because corporate america has a bigger budget?
ive checked the wal mart model for years after
opening up a little reggae/cutural music store a while back...and noticed that they were selling the same music that i was selling in some instances for $3-5 less that what i was. they were basically selling cd's for what i was buying them for at wholesale. although i have closed that business since then, i was not discouraged by this fact, i simply diversified my offerings and started to focus on vinyl records, where i knew that i had a niche market and could not be affected by the walmarts/best buys/ and circuit city's.
i learned alot from walmarts model of importing asian products, sticking an american brand name on it and selling these products at a premium cost to american consumers. of course it is true that many of these products are made in sweat-shops etc; but the model of importing products at a low price and selling them for a profit can provide opportunities if done in an equitable manner.
our company is one of only a handful of african / african 'american consumer electronic companies branded in an african language in the world. we utilize asian companies to manufacture our product designs, import 40 ft containers and sell to the american market. add'ly we are in the process of coordinating mechanisms by which we can eventually engage in technological transfer of knowledge and mqnufacturing equipment so that within the next year or so we can manufacture these same products in africa; which we are confident will assist in creating employment.
