From the moment we are born, we are physically decaying towards death.

No living thing in nature lives forever.

I do not sight it as a fatalist mentality. I sight it as a reality.

I think this is what Karibkween meant by the futility of "kicking and screaming."

The first law of nature is self-preservation. So yes, things that are alive want to stay living. We should fight against things that want to kill us. Nevertheless, the wise man knows that there is a time where there is no more fight in the dog and that death is inevitable.

Human brains stop firing and hearts stop beating. We call this death.

We must acknowledge that on a subatomic level however, there is really no death, only transition and change.
