If one believes in the “quantitative magnitude” that is our Universe, why the need to kick and fight. The earth has been reinventing itself and life long before the evolution of humans; we are simply one in a trillion manifestations of “the collective of matter and energy.” Resistance is futile, hence, it is not man who is immortal it is his “particles” that are immortal. Freedom/Peace rests in the acceptance of this truth.

That said it is not nature’s cycles that might spell our doom it is our contribution to the acceleration of nature’s cycles. Like you’ve said humanity has survived many climate changes, but their contribution has in most instances been “local”, so the consequences did not affect humanity in its entirety. Man has succeeded in amplifying his errors to global proportions; it is this tragedy, coupled with the awesome power of nature that has the “green technology” advocates anxious and righteously angry.
