What is Babylon? A place, an idea, a state of being, it has many meanings that have been described in this thread. Given my residence in its heart, I suppose I will give my piece.
I normally start my days with the morning news. A mix between local happenings and the failing markets in New York. What struck me a little while ago was a report about the killing of a mountain lion. This was not a creature that had harmed anyone, or even threatened to. This was a sleeping animal that just happened to lay near the beginning of a residential area, and was shot. I thought of the Lion of Judah, and decided it was no coincidence I had heard that report.
The people of Babylon despise Jah, and anything that reminds them of it. Those of them that go to church go simply because it is the thing to be seen doing, not out of love for Jah. A society built on lies and mass delusion, on a love for the profane, and on the dehumanization of any that dont completely assimilate to it, that is the American dream. There is no doubt in my mind that Babylon is indeed a place.
