Re: What is the contention about?
In Response To: What is the contention about? ()

The fact is, if conscious dark-skin kinky-hair Blacks understand and experience the worst of the system, then they will automatically be more qualified than anyone else about abuses in the system.

let's do this by logic:

John is dark-skinned, kinky-haired, etc.
John understands and has experienced the worst of the system.
John is a crack addict

Mark is light-skinned
Mark has experienced some abuse in the system, but has in turn used that to learn more about the system and how to overcome that abuse.
Mark has otherwise done a lot to advance black causes (protests, demonstrations, boycotts, whatever).

A new black student organization is about to start up at their John and Mark's university. Only John and mark apply for the president's position. Is John automatically more qualified?

By your general statement that would be your conclusion.

Even though I wholeheartedly agree that ideally a dark-skinned person should lead, and that should give that person an advantage, merit HAS to play a role. If one person is lighter-skinned, but based on merit is a SIGNIFICANTLY better candidate for a leadership position then that person should not be disqualified simply because they are lighter.

So even though I agree with most of what you wrote (thus in my opinion making it partially correct), I don't agree with it all.
