Re: LIGHT SKIN IS BETTER THAN DARK..hell no!

"A conscious dark-skinned kinky-hair Black person IS more sensitive to the abuses in the system than ANY other type of person."

This quote is not a generalization. The entire system systematically impacts dark-skin kinky-hair Blacks the most, as a result of continuous abuses to all levels of sensitivity. While a light-skin person does feel the impact of some overt and covert racism, one with light skin is continually the acceptable physical representation of blackness in white society, along with being the choice of the "better example" of character. This allows light-skin ones access to privileges not automatically afforded dark-skin kinky-hair Blacks. Due to conditioned, automatic reactions through manipulations on many fronts, dark-skin Black people, especially dark-skinned kinky-hair Black women are unrelentingly, both physically and mentally subjected to negative scrutiny and assessment with little or no recourse within the system.

If a light-skin person was more physically abused by both whites and Blacks than a dark-skin Black person because he/she does not fit in perfectly with either, that does not automatically make the light-skin person more SENSITIVE to the abuses in the SYSTEM. Remember, I am talking about SYSTEMATIC abuses and not sporadic cases of abuse in communities.

Colorism is about addressing deeper and more complex issues than beatings and parenting. A dark-skin kinky-hair Black person does not get privileges in the system. There is no automatic assumption of their intelligence, worthiness, etc.

Study white privilege with all of its subtleties and insidious workings then apply it in some measure to light-skin mixed ones.

Your opinion about hate was an unnecessary interjection into the debate, as discussing this issue is not about hating anyone. As I previously stated, both light and dark ones contribute to Colorism, so it is not just an issue about the conduct of light-skin ones. As usual when this issue comes up for discussion people start talking about being divisive. If people were united then no debate would divide them.

Anyhow, I hope someone else engages you in this debate as I do not intend to go over every point I have already made on this issue. Perhaps a new angle might get through the personalized tendencies to favor emotion over reason that seems attached to some when this debate comes up. I think it is cool for others to start their own reasoning on it.
