Honour

This last paragraph is very telling.

"Schuyler’s satire proved to be effective in pointing out the institution of colorism among the Black community. It’s is something that has existed long before our time and still exists today. At this point Black people almost rely on that color-based hierarchy; and will always look for some way to create division within the race. Instead of dividing ourselves, we need to join as a community to battle important issues such as HIV, drugs, violence, and international matters; there is too much in this world too worry about, skin tone isn’t among them."

In it, the author admits that "..Black people almost rely on that color-based hierarchy..". Now, has this reliance worked to the benefit of Black people? If yes, then by all means it should not only be condoned, it should be strengthened. However, if the opposite is the case, then why say "..and will always look for some way to create division within the race" and "...there is too much in this world too worry about, skin tone isn’t among them.."?

Who are the ones creating divisions? Who are the ones who have through our times divided themselves from the mass that they originated from? What are the names of the Black societies or communities where leadership (or membership) has been dependant on the darkness of the skin-tone? And, what is the true motivation of ones who carry on like they mis-understand the neccesity of comprehensively defeating (i.e. DISINTERGRATING) the negative self-image held by Africans?

We should realise that had these been the dominant voice at the time, slogans such as "Black and Proud" or "Black Power" would have never seen the light of day. Instead, we would have probably had things like "Darker than the mainstream and proud" or "Dusky Power".

In truth, while learning at the feet of thier 'white' gurus, they did extremely well on the subject of obfuscation. A+ on obfuscation I would say.
