Re: Let our African women be free to speak and act

Despite the fact that females are given titles such as queen, empress, goddess etc within the realms of Rastafari, because of the many Judeo-Christian constructs used by some, interactions and relationships are fraught with abuse and male arrogance. Also, it is important to note that abuse doesn't only include violent abuse, but also psychological and emotional abuse.

The Euro/Judeo-Christian/male domination has not only affected institutions and social processes but also the way people go about relationships and view each other.

Past attempts at social change have failed because to many, the object of the change was just external instituions and processes, and thus the interpersonal and individual relationships remained unaddressed. It is easier to see the corruption, racism, and patriachy evident in external processess than it is to see them in everyday interactions and relationships.

It is not the duty or right of males to determine how females should act, so it is a double standard for many to pretend to be so against the system, while at the same time telling females what they should or should not do. For instance, some arrogant males feel it is their place to tell females that they shouldn't wear pants.

'A nation can rise no higher, than the level of their women'
