something i have realized as well is that it is not ONLY what is revered, but HOW it is revered. western new age crap filters through a western perception with all it's faulty bias/blindspots and misinterpretations.
i don't think is is JUST about goddess reverence. for example, one only needs to look at Crowley's system of gnosticism to find out what revering the goddess really meant to that pervert.
as well, i don't think "patriarchy" is a universal catch all phrase as western discourse tends to make it. i think again, culture plays a HUGE, if not DETERMINING role in what exactly this societal order means to the inhabitants. the west indeed shows a bad history in regards to its imposition of said order, but does that really follow that everywhere on earth where such is the case that the same thing is present?
