First off I did not accuse you of dissing Whoopi.
I asked why you used her to draw your comparison.
Secondly, I have never heard "White America" make derogatory comments about her looks. I have heard plenty from "Black America." "White America" is more concerned about her outspoken political views.
I had no idea Whoopi was married to a "White" man.
However, judging from the overwhelming concensus of "Black America" that she is not a choice mate I can understand her selection. Where does one go having been rejected by one's own?
Her success has not come easy either. In fact her political views has relegated her to the black-list at certain venues, where she is prohibited from performing.
I also asked what is wrong with the way she looks.
I believe that long after the slave master has freed the slave, the slave, still feels the lash. Africans have lived so long, suffering the abuses of the European that he believes he deserves the treatment. Certainly, "God" has allowed it, so there must be something wrong with me and my kind. That is the mindset of most descendents of enslaved and colonized Africans. It's why at the first opportunity they seek to distance themselves from the pack a la Bill Cosby, and the African brothers who prefer to sleep with the enemy or some reasonable facsimile.
My condolences to the family of Harold Cruse. His seminal treatise on the social condition and conditioning of Africans, in "The crisis of the Negro Intellectual" has produced little meaningful change in the socialization of Africans since its first publication in the late 1960s.
