Well people’s minds and feelings were altered, and are still being altered because of Slavery, Colonialism, the bogus education system, and media projections of beauty and success. Many have not considered that some of their feelings have been altered; they feel love based on ideas that were forced on them (self-destructive).
Also many Rastas are economically challenged, and do face negative discrimination, although some have contributed to that. Remember, historically Rastas generally pulled away from the rest of society, and in most cases were not explaining their way of life to the masses. In some measure that contributed to the alienation and discrimination. People would generally fear, and then negatively discriminate against things they do not understand.
Some Rastas resort to being the exotic relationship for some whites in exchange for money. Many are just struggling with bread and butter issues, and in my view are not well informed.
