I'm not going to speak on Bob personally, because I didn't know him, but I am an Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Christian, I I do know that my faith is separate and distinct from Rastafarianism. We do not believe that Haile Selassie was God, and do not compromise on this matter. We are in full communion with the other fully Orthodox Christian Churches which includes white people. We make no racial distinctions at all, and are not a Church only for Blacks, although we are integrally African. It would be hypocritical for anyone who believes His Majesty was God to be baptized into our Church, as baptism requires acceptance of Yesus Kristos (Jesus Christ) as God and no one else. Our beliefs are closer to those of the other Christian Churches than to those of Rastafari. HAILE SELASSIE WORSHIPPED YESUS KRISTOS, HE WAS A DEVOUT ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN. A Rasta joining Christianity and still clinging to his old belief would be just as hypocritical as his joining Islam or Buddhism and clinging to his old belief. Ethiopian Christianity is not any closer to Rastafarianism than Western Christianity is.
Your in Yesus Kristos,
Nicholas
