Do not take your children to their Christmas Market Place and buy them distructive toys like guns, swords, daggers, knives or dolls which do not reflect their images. Above all, do not take them to meet Santa Claus, nor lie to them that Santa Claus has brought them toys, when indeed you know that you are the ones who bought and paid for those toys. Do not lie to your children if you do they will also lie to their children, and this lie will continue to multiply from generation to generation.
Take the entire family to Kwanzaa Celebrations, including grand mothers and grand fathers and all elders in your house. Let them be exposed to their own African cultural heritage and glorious legacy of collective family unity, which was handed down by our ancestors from generation to generation. If you have to your buy your children gifts, let it be something from which he or she can learn something. Let in be a musical instrument, maybe a drum or some other musical instrument, or a good book relating to the history and culture of our own people, or a tool that can be used to create something, which can be useful in the school, home or Community.
We must teach our women to play African drums and other instruments, considering that children are most closely connected to their mothers. The mothers are indeed the first teachers and they will be in a better position to pass on this cultural musical skill and knowledge to the children, especially in situations where the father is always at work, in prison or have abandoned the home and his children.
Never abadond your home and fanmily regardless of
the circumstances. Always give your financial, spiritual and physical support in order to guide and preserve the up bringing of the children, even if you as parents have separated for one reason or the other. Always remember to establish and preserve a good atmosphere for communications based on the needs and protection of the childern. Never forget that we were little boys and girls and that the children of today are the parents, teachers and leaders of tomorrow
They who abandon their Elders in the Village, have abandoned a library of knowledge, wisdom and positive advancement of their own minds.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination to African people everywhere
