rasta is no REBEL but REVOLUTIONARY
In Response To: Re: Rasta use of the bible ()

rastafari for me has always been about black liberation and african unity.Looking at the historical development of our movement, one will observe the the anncient elders always advocated a critical approach to overstanding the bible. They accepted certain sections, dismissed some and re-interpreted others. They never forgot about linking whatever they read with their colonial oppresive and suppresive enviroments and sought to mobilise ans encourage all to challenge the status quo.

The bible is therefore an TOOL,WEAPON & INSTRUMENT. It can be used for fighting the oppresor and restoring the what the white devilish racist supremacy has stolen, it can be used as a tool for education for raising the consciousness of our people regarding matters of history, tool for development of unity and proper values among our people and as well as an instrument to gauge the level of indroctrination and mental slavery among our people.

For those that have realised the percularity of the context of AFRICAN people yet still religious i would recommend the HOLY PIBY. this book is a call to action for liberation.

i think we waste a lot of time talking about what Isiah or JEREMIAH taught , hence the splinterisation of our movement. The need to engage in struggle is long overdue, not individuals BUT THE MOVEMNT!

RASTA has proud history of involvement in struggles as individuals there is need to engage in struggles as a movement.

my point is THE BIBLE SHOULD NOT BE DISMISSED BUT USED FOR ADVANCEMENT OF OUR STRUGGLE.

those that have been involved in mass struggle will attest to uneveness of consciousness, the patience and dedication needed demands one to have tolerance and accomodation at times of views diametrically opposed to ones vision.

WE ARE NOT REBELS BUT REVOLUTIONARIES! revolution is not an overnight thing and wont be seen on a colour tv !
