Living correctly is the most beneficial thing you can get out of any religious text. Appreciating it means living righteously every single day to the best of our ability - a path of development towards greater and greater communion with the Most High. That is no excuse WHATSOEVER for not delving into the historical roots of things so that I and I can get a greater OVERSTANDING of where I and I are from and where we are going.
In my opition - there is a greater danger in closing off the development of I and I selves in a coffin of ritualism and dogmatism that has the historical tendency to kill the spirit of people. I never trade an island for a continent - spiritually, metaphorically or literally. Sight.
