Greetings bredren
Did not Haile Selassie I and other Afrikan leaders form the OAU for the Unity of Afrikans everywhere?
Did not Marcus Garvey say, "Afrika for the Afrikans, those at home and those abroad"?
What is different from what Baba Marcus is saying about Afrikans in this time?
Afrikan liberation is definitely Rasta business. Know self first. Clean up your own dirty laundry first. Then when you are able to stand as a people, then you can choose to build bridges with other nations if you see fit. Look at what Hugo Chavez is doing with Venezuela. He is taking his nation toward economic autonomy. This is necessary before he decides to do business with European nations. He can control the economic destiny of his country, which will effect the destiny of his nation as a whole. I think it is a good example to follow.
We need to talk amongst ourselves to develop ideas, educate, explore OUR own resources, and impliment strategies for our autonomy. The white nation will not do this for us.
We say Rasta this and Rasta that. But for I, Rastafari is reality. Smoking herb, reading the bible, growing locks, etc, will not do anything to stop the genecidal cycle of corruption against people of color. Without education and actions, nothing happens. This is for all Afrikans, Rasta and non-Rasta. Afrika first for she is the cradle of all life. The land where the gods love to be. The whole world owes its splendor to her. Selassie I know this: "Our liberty is meaninless unless all Afrikans are free."
This is how I see it bredren.
