it is about how great America is, THAT is how it is framed. like we are so great - we have come this far. it is still a controlled dialogue that fits directly with the ideology that they are trying to perpetuate. it is all symbolic - 44 years after the civil rights bill, right after mlk day, america's 44th and first non-white president. tada! and it is tied in with america's other symbolism
i think it would help to SEE this event in the context of the other symbolisms that are all tied together as our collective "light." from the foundational date in 1776 to 9/11 - we are collectively tied together in this one consciousness/ideology. now that we have been feeling bitter since bush, now it is time to feel together again, as part of the whole. obama is not JUST black, he is black for specific purposes, but he is not too black for white sensitivities, he has an international background, a muslim name, lived in indonesia, hawaii - he is the collection of what America wants its image to be - hip, young, multi-cultural, but STILL committed to the ideology, ideals of the dominating force- the empire of light.
