A fact finding African Mission, departed from the Palisadoes Airport in Kingston, Jamaica, on the 4th of June 1961 at 10.15 am, and after stoping at various places, finally arrived in Africa on Saturday April 15th.The Mission comprised of; Dr.L.C. Leslie,Adviser, Mr. V.S. Reid, Co- Adviser, Hon.E.H. Lake(Antigua) Minister of Social Welfare, Dr. B.M.Douglas, Mr. Z. Munroe-Scarlet, Afro-West Indian Welfare League, W. Blackwood, U.N.I.A; Cecil Gordon, Ethiopian World Federation, D.Mack, Filmore Alvaranga, Rases of Eastern Kingston, and Mortimer Planno, Representing the Rastafari people.

The members of the mission first stopped in Ethiopia, then Nigeria, then Ghana, then Liberia, then Sierra Leone and had talks about the migration of African people back to Africa with each of the African Government leaders they visited, and was told that there are lands lot of lands, for Africans in the Diaspora awaiting us in Mama Africa.

The members of the African mission were told that Africans in the Diaspora are blood brothers of Africans living in Mama Africa and that we would be welcomed home. Well, that took place just under fifty years ago, and to date, I am not aware of any large scale migration to Mama Africa from the African Diaspora, although there are some individuals who have migrated back home and are not recognised as African Citizens.

Why are there no large scale land grant for African people in the African Disapora in Mama Africa? to encourage our people to return home and at least occupy some of the land which they left there, when they were brutalized across the middle passage. The is a company named Bangalore-based Karuturi Global LTD,which is leasing 741,000 acres, an area which is larger than Luxemburg, in Ethiopia near to Baro River.

It has been said, Ghana, Madagascar, Mali and Ethiopia have apProved 1.4 million hectores of land allocations to foreign investors since the year 2004.It has been said that African agricultural land is cheap and appear to be the last and best frontier FOR land grabbing from African people. Emergent Asset Management in london seems to have land holdings in South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. It seems to me that this is another scramble for the lands of Mama Africa.

But what about the promise made to Africans in the Diaspora to the members of the missin to Mama Africa, by African Governments in the year 1961. And why are Africans in the Diaspora not re-visiting the subject while our land is being taken up by foreign investers, who's ancestors have enslaved our people over the past more than five hundred years. We need some of that land but we must get up and stand up, stand up for our rights if we are to achieve it. The journey of life continues. Take the best care of your selves and your people.
