Greetings empress
I man was taught that the Hyksos were Asians, from the east. Do the I agree with this? However I also hear many scholars claim that they do not know the true origin of the Hyksos.
In Egyptian text, the Hyksos are described as a "strange bird". I feel that this mean that the Hyksos were unkown to Egypt, probably suggesting a people who were from the far east, or perhaps Asia herself. If the Hyksos were the Semetic peoples, then Egypt would have known them, because it was Egypt who fed them and hired them as mercenaries/warriors to protect the Egyptian border to the north and the south.
