if this is true - it means that in some cases - the "alternative" media is now leading the major media in what to report. this is purportedly because of the evolution of the availability of information and the fact that major networks are ratings based - to maintain their revenue they have to latch onto the momentum created by other outlets. i don't have a tv, but via the internet i can tell that the major networks like msnbc and fox are carrying stories and viewpoints now that were not on the radar even a couple of years ago. of course they spin the stories - but i think this is an interesting development.
perhaps an example of top down vs. bottom up and how they interact.
