I do not doubt that the religions of man are spiritual kinsmen. What I doubt however is the wisdom of embracing other people's religions when none of them will even consider ours as a religion.

I saw displayed in an Indian's shop window a T-shirt that I thought was disrespectful of Rastafari, it suggested us as trivial, amusing even. I had a long talk with the shop owner. He is a Hindu or something. I asked him how he would feel if I had a T-shirt with caricartures of Ganesh and Sai Baba etc.

I think that it is more important that we strengthen ourselves first as Rastafarians, what Ras Marcus has been saying in the other post. Half the Rastas I have met in this country are more acquainted with some Feng thing or other by this and that "Master", and have never read the Kebra Naghast.

Call me chauvinistic, call me narrow-minded, but I believe that every one should have their vine and fig-tree. We are all part of the human family, and I respect all people. I expect that respect to be reciprocated.

Do you suppose His Imperial Majesty, having paid tribute to this Indian chap, would have been thrilled to hear Jai Sri Krisna chanted alongside the Anaphorae of Yohannes? Or the rubbing of Buddha's belly right after the kissing of the Maskal? I think not.

They don't want to be like us, why should we be like them?
