Re: How is it different?
In Response To: Re: How is it different? ()

Well, they play music and sing and dance. Around midnight, someone starts to show signs of possession, they have lost their usual demeanour, their voice is decibels louder than normal. Some speak with the voice of the opposite gender. I saw a guy sitting next to me act just like an old woman.

Then, the spirit medium announces himself. Usually, he should be able to convince the elders present by recognising for example things that the deceased owned, and recognising his descendants from among the gathering.

Then, if the spirit has any issues- a breach of etiqutte, violation of taboos etc, he then makes this known and what they should do to cleanse themselves. Then people are invited to ask questions.

Naturally, my first question was about Haile Selassie. The spirit medium tried to scare me with curses. I calmly replied, "look, I mean no disrespect, but if you do not know about Him, just say so. most people don't". The medium became very agitated and I was asked to leave.

The spirit medium wears a gown with many symbols, among them the Ankh, Akenaton's Disc, the Christian Cross and the Star of David.

When he was out of the trance, I asked him about the symbols. He said they were tradition, a remnant of the religious systems our forefathers were acquainted with over the ages.
