Re: MUGABE THE LIBERATOR? ASK THE NDEBELE PEOPLE.

"Are you Ndebele, if I may ask."

_______________
I am actually a white British/Welsh person, a fact that, no doubt, will be used against me by those on this board who support Mugabe. I found the Mthwakazi newsletter on the internet. I'd like to make it clear that I know that a great many Shona people do not support Mugabe. After all, the leader of the Movement for Democratic Change is a Shona. I also wish to make it clear that I in no way support white colonialism. Unfortunately, some of the people on this board seem to think that in order to oppose white colonialism, they have to blindly support all post-Independence African leaders. They seem to forget that many of these leaders are inheriting the colonial system created by whites, and are often perpetuating it by oppressing ethnic groups and tribes that were independent before the time of colonialism.
As for Zimbabwe, I'm not saying that a seperate Ndebele state is necessarily the answer for the Ndebele people. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I just hope that people will reflect on these issues and not just adopt the knee-jerk reaction of unreservedly supporting post-Independence African leaders.
