I am not 100% convinced of the information just presented. That is not to say that what was described did not happen, it means that I am weary of information like this. I think many conscious people are weary of information such as this, because it is obvious in this day and age that this is the kind of information that is used as a legitimizing cause for intervention.

It is true as well though that many people are caught up in a kind of a good guy/bad guy kind of perception of the world. The political world I think is more akin to a battle of forces - and if one wants to gain ground for ones own goal, it involves a strategic playing of the powers that be. This is what allows hyper-capitalist investors such as George Soros to start and organization such as Human Rights Watch - any humanitarian cause can be used as the necessary moral facade for an intervention into other countries affairs. This is not of course to downplay the legitimate struggles of groups within countries, I am pointing it out to get ones to OVERSTAND how the game is played.

Think about the debate on this board about Haile Selassie - surely there is information out there that paints him to be a horrible leader - from the perspective of ones such as the Oromo. But in the bigger picture, what has Haile Selassie come to represent in the greater struggle but a rallying point of African Unity. We cannot continue to deny the complex nature of politics and history in the shaping of the world landscape. In this light, KNOWING that the Euro-American powers wish to maintain a steady grip on the destiny of Africa - it is ones such as Mugabe, who although some will shine a light on his excesses of power - who represent a strong figure to those struggling for African self-determination in general.
