I am Rastafarian, of the Kiddud Maqdas movement. Mwari is one of the names for God in my language, even the Christians use it. ALthough it is known that His personal name is YAVE.

I think you mean what many scholars now call Ancestralism, the belief that certain of one's ancestors mediate between God and man. Well, I have attended several evocation ceremonies, but I remain convinced that Haile Selassie is the Living God, and that a dead person cannot mediate between a living person and a living God.

The Buja people were not ancestralists until settling in Zimbabwe some 400 years ago. Even now, only Nohureka, founder of the nation is the only ancestor regarded as a mudzimu ( guiding spirit cf Babylonian iddimmu.)

You seem to know a lot of Southern African history.
