I don't know if I am one of the "grinches" or "haters" you are talking about, but my intention was not to hate.
Several people on here said they had never heard of the history between Karenga and the Black Panthers. Wouldn't you say that it is important to know history? In posting what I have gathered about the issue from the sources I have read, I also said clearly that obviously there are other sides to the story, and that regardless of the ultimate truth of the matter, it does not take away from the principles of Kwaanza which are good principles to apply year round.
Would you call Assata Shakur a "hater"? [BY NO MEANS comparing myself to that great revolutionary, but read her autobiography, see what she says about Karenga, is she "hating" or just recording her personal experience and opinion of the man?]
Anyway it wouldn't be the first time I've been accused of "hating". Hell, nowadays if you question why Jay effing Z has millions of dollars to spend on jewellry, but has yet to open a school or hospital, you would be accused of "hating".
"I don't playa hate I just stay awake, it's real hip hop, and it don't stop til we get the po po off the block"- dead prez
