Re: Concerned about intolerance on boards

Dear Mrs. Omari,
your words are always like good roots music to my ears !
INI down here is a mix of Portuguese (Arab), Indians (Tupi) and Africans (Yorubá).
Something wich is really dificult down here is to find a pure race one. The first Europeans to came here where man only, so they start mixing with the Indians (this was in 1500). A hundred years later came the Africans and they all mix againg. The Portuguese strategy was "assimilation" of races. However, I'm not saying there isn't prejudice and other things, but is more likely to be economical prejudice.
Anyway, I never thought about myself as white, or black or whatever, until I went to study in England and arriving there, my houselady first words were "Oh, you're brown!" I never heard anything like that before. Then people start to ask if I was Lebanese... i never thought about this things before.
Really, is better to be glad for what has been saved, then weep for what has been lost.
Things to be corrected have to be includent. To transform something I need a previous form, isn't it?
Life is continous correction of mistakes. We have to learn how to pass by the mud, not letting it hold on us.

Love the you
Ras Mandingo, Brasil (Recife)
