I have read the Epistle which you have posted which was written by the families of those who were partakers in the enslavement of our African people. I was able to read about the social and cultural conditions which manifested their selves amonmg the Caramantes people in those Ancient times, Whether the stories are true or false, I am not aware since I have never read about them before.
But now I must ask you, do you think it was an honorable deed, for the so called Maroons, to help the English people to enslave their own African people by, returning them to the slave plantations, and handed them back to the slave masters, after they escaped to the so called Maroons Villages, seeking refuge among their own people? They also made a pledge with the English slave masters to fight against any slave uprisings in Jamaica and they did, in Tacky's Rebellion, Sam Sharpe's Rebellion, and the Morant Bay Rebellion with Paul Bogle in the year 1865.
We consider this a betrayal and consider the name Maroon as a name which is stained with betrayal, and more over, since the name Maroon, is an English name which was put on our people by slave masters, we are saying, that the name Maroons should be rejected and be despised by the following generation of AAfrican people, and that there original name of Coromantees be honorable restored to them as a sign of forgiveness to our people. What do you think?
Take the best care of yourself and your people.
Maroons No No No. Coromantees Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination to African people e erywhere.
ONE BLACK HEART ONE BLACK LOVE.
Baba Ras Marcus.
