When a slave is brave enough to escape from a slavery plantation, he is considered to be a trouble maker and a very bad example for the other slaves who live on that plantation, and others who are being enslaved in the area. If he is captured and brought back alive to the plantation, the slave masters will have the trouble of making an example out of him, by beating him with the whip, or maybe chop of his fingers or his foot, or hang him in the presence of his other slaves, just to show them what will happen to them, if they try to escape from the plantation. Some times they would also tie them to a post, and set fire around them, so that they slowly be burned to death. So, that is why they paid, Ten Pounds to the so called Maroons
for bringing back the head of a runaway slave, but only paid Ten Shillings, for bring back s slave alive, it save them the trouble of tormenting the slave who is returned alive, and the other slaves will be shown the head of the dead slave, which is taken back to the slave masters, just to show them what would becaome of them if they tried to escape.

Slaves were considered to be valuable property, but when a slave is known to have escaped from a slavery plantation, his or her value goes down, and no one would want to buy a slave if they know that he have escaped before, it was like wasting your money, because if he had escaped before he will escape again as soon as he or she gets the chance. So, that is why the slave masters
paid Ten Pounds to the so called Maroons, who brought back the head of a dead slave, and only Ten Shillings when a slave was brought back alive.

The United State of Africa and all true African people should despise and reject the name Maroons
and cause these so called Maroons to restore and claim their original names as Cormantees, Ashanti and Akan, as a symbol of their forgiveness, for betraying their African brothers and sisters on the plantations, After they signed that Peace Treaty with the British slave masters. Amazingly enough, the British slave masters also betrayed them, after they helped the British to enslaved their own African people, which resulted in the second so called Maroon war, which took pl;ace in the year 1795. The British were out of order enough, to give the whip to slaves which were brought back by the so called Maroons, to whip two Maroons, which the British claimed, they caught stealing a pig or two. The name Maroon is not of African origin and it is very stained with the betrayal of our people, so again we must say despises i and reject it..
