I have not been to Ethiopia but I do know Ethiopians who speak the Kings language. I also have been studying Amharic of and on for some years now.

I was told by my Ethiopian Idren that Fetari = creator and Tafari = he who inspires awe/fear. During the early days of the Rastafari moment, Idren who were trying to learn Amharic confused the meaning. It is a shame that people still are quoting such things as fact when there are plenty of Amharic resources to seek the truth from today.

Makonnen = angel

The complete title of Ras Tafari Makonnen means "Head angel who inspires awe/fear."

And as Empress Mama Afrika stated, there are quite a few Afrikan people who have shed light on the power of Kemet and her influence in the ancient world.
