I doubt anyone would argue your point that the powers that be don't conspire with eachother and against the masses to advance their own agenda and maintain their societal status; this unnatural means by which modern civilization generates food has been operating for quite a long time. Why now, the spotlight?

The prophets have been on the margins for quite sometime also warning the masses about the dangers, but their words have fallen on deaf ears. I could think of many reasons why those who have been benefitting from the ignorance and complacency of the masses would have a need to shine the spotlight on the consequences of these unnatural practices now, but quite frankly its a long overdue wake up call.
