Maybe this is finally a recognition that the “geo-political ambitions” of the few are out of balance with the needs of the many. The article says: “Experts have been warning for years that the rise of large-scale factory farms in North America has created the perfect breeding grounds for the emergence and spread of new highly-virulent strains of influenza.” Swine Flu is not the first and it will not be the last consequence of this highly unnatural choice of producing food. Remember Oprah’s court battle with the meat industry in North America? And, didn’t they put that uppity gal in her place? Sometimes it takes an up close and personal encounter with the consequences of our choices to get us to select/choose a different course/source. The people of La Gloria and California have the benefit of such close encounters. Those further removed from their food source will need a few more food contamination outbreaks or maybe this most recent influenza scare to adjust their view.
