No argument that it is important to understand the laws they use against us as sometime we are going to have to use laws for us and against them as part of our overall strategy...
But the system makes, breaks, abolishes and re-makes laws at its will, not ours... and the laws are not applied equally... Veronza Bowers and Leonard Peltier (irrespective of the fact that they are innocent in the first place) should have been out on parole years ago but it keeps getting denied for no reason... in Veronza's case this is YEARS after his MAXIMUM sentence has expired...
So to use their own laws against them as part of a broader strategy is fine but to depend on that alone is foolish because they control that playing field, whereas we can potentially control the playing field of "the streets" and public opinion.
Also your point about how Mumia could be released with time served begs the question: if he were to accept that, would that not be tantamount to admitting guilt? Why should you admit guilt for something you didn't do?
