"Most Afrikan religions don't have names."
Not true. First, overstand that African religion is a WAY of living, from the day you are dedicated to a particular aspect of the Almighty, you live according to certain strict rules. To say people do not have the words to describe how they are living is to insult thier intelligence.
"So in a sense, it is not part of our heritage to give I-self names like Jewish or Muslim, etc. "
No, we would not call ourselves jew or moslem, we would call ourselves names like 'Abo Oxa' which means 'One who feeds Oxa'. People also had names that indicated which deity they were dedicated to. For instance, Oxunlade would be a follower of the deity Oxun and Ogunyemi would be the follower of the deity Ogun. So, you see that we go even further than merely giving ourselves an abstract affiliation like 'jew'. We are specific.
"However, many Black people have found strength and guidance from following various forms of these faiths,"
I repeat what I said before : When you are capable of being an elder, you stop looking for an elder. YOU TAKE YOUR PLACE. Time has come for Africans to lose the pacifiers.
