Re: Skin-Deep Discrimination
In Response To: Re: Skin-Deep Discrimination ()

You said:
"a commentary about colorism, iniatiated by a white man?"

~ I deliberately posted that article. I expected that comment.

It is interesting that you pointed out the commentator in that article is White though, especially since you appeared to have a problem when I posted many articles written by Blacks on the same subject.

You said:
"colorism exist. this is a fact that cannot be disputed. it is easy to see in every day society.
however, i dont think it is an all pervasive phenomenon."

~ You seem to be changing your opinion on the issue of Colorism. Your response sounds like a repetition of gman's line, so when I am ready to respond to him, you could follow that reasoning.

You said:
"it is the easiest physical characteristic that can be used to find yet another way to define and separate africans."

~ Whites/Aryans instituted the Colour game. Light-skinned blacks emulated Whites to the detriment of dark-skinned Blacks. I am exposing it for people to consider, especially as I know it is more prevalent than most care to admit. Even if you and others feel it was/is not that prevalent, it does not justify the conduct over this issue.

You said:
"i would agree that these subjects are important to address; but what is the resolution? "

~ How do YOU expect it to be addressed to the point of a resolution if posting about it causes such distortions, along with extreme hostility from those who feel it is not an issue? How can I even talk of a resolution if so much time has to be invested in defending our right to engage this issue? Until Blacks of all shades can honestly engage this issue then they cannot realize any solution.

rasi, I am of the opinion that Colorism affects you way more than you care to admit. You fought down this issue before when it was brought up by some of us dark-skinned Blacks. Now you seem to be shifting your position after light-skinned gman made his feelings known. You do not feel that we dark-skinned Blacks who raised this issue know what we are talking about. So do look for the answer where you feel YOUR best help comes from.
