If I tell my daughter everyday that I will be picking her up from soccer practice, and I forget to tell her one particular day, do you think that she will be waiting for me after practice hoping I pick her up because I pick her up every day? I would say yes. She would do it because of the fact that she knows I pick her up everyday, regardless if I mentioned it to her or not. This is where I was going in my last post concerning hope being based off of some prior experience and knowledge.

I think that when we are dealing with the character of people, it is difficult to know for sure how they will behave under certain situations. Especially if it is someone who we dont know so well. The only way to be sure that someone wont betray your trust is by not putting yourself in a situation that will allow it to happen. Faith would be much more important in this situation than knowledge (certainty) because we can never be certain about the motives and desires of people. We may think we know someone after many years and realeyes that we really dont.

Now if we are talking about something untangible such as nature and natural phenomena, then we can be certain about those matters because they follow a law or principle. Phenomena that were once seen as an act of God, can now be proven by science to be a natural occurence easily explained.

We must also be cautious not to take knowledge found in academia too seriously though. I have met many educated fools who have stored up a wealth of information but do not have the overstanding or wisdom to process the information. Common sense is not so common in everyone.

From a religious perspective, I must agree that faith is looked upon as hoping and wishing on some kind of divine intervention. The problem is that some people do not overstand what true worship is. In my opinion, true worship is doing works through faith. Faith can move mountains...but if you dont bring your shovel and do some work, the mountain will not be moved. So yes I bredren. Religious faith is purely belief because the faith is usually based on something found in a 'holy' book, which would not be first hand knowledge...hence...debateable.
